Taking attendance

Mark a class present, absent or late in a few taps.

Teachers

Every student starts unmarked, so a roll you haven't taken never looks finished. Most days it's one tap for the room and a tap for anyone missing.

  1. From Today or Attendance, choose Take attendance for your roll (a class's ⋯ menu has it too).
  2. Tap Mark all present, then tap anyone who's absent — a tap flips a student between Present and Absent.
  3. For Late arrival or Excused, a reason, a note, or an early departure time, open that student's ⋯ (or long-press on a phone).
  4. Choose Submit attendance in the bar at the bottom.

If your school turns on "Alert families when a child is marked absent or late without a note" (Settings → Attendance), each family gets one email and app notification that day once the roll is saved (and a text if they chose texts), with a button to send the office a note. It's never sent for a child whose family already reported the absence, and a parent can turn their own Absence alerts off in My account.

Notes families send (absent, arriving late, leaving early) show above the rolls under Reported by parents. The office acknowledges each one — that puts it on the roll and lets the family know it was received — and can add a short note back, like "Hope she feels better!"
